It was good to take some time in the easter parliamentary recess to drop in on some great community events in Burnage

The Kingsburn Hall was the setting for afternoon refreshments hosted by Spoons & Ladle and Age Friendly Burnage.

It was a big turn out and great chatting to local residents and the organisers of the event – which was also supported by our local Burnage PCSO’s.

Burnage Good Neighbours hold a Luncheon Club on Thursdays, and on 6^th April they asked me to judge the Easter Bonnet competition.  A tough job! There were a number of excellent hats on display but the winner Muriel (on the right of the picture below) deserved the first prize.

The lunch club is held at Burnage Community Centre every other Thursday, and is run by volunteers from Burnage Good Neighbours.  For more details contact Burnage Good Neighbours on 0161-431-7220.

The previous week, I walked alongside the Lord mayor, local councillors and children from the local primary schools on the first Burnage animal parade – organised by volunteers at Burnage Library. This featured some amazing animal costumes – made in the school workshops – walking from St Margarets Church to Burnage Media Academy along Burnage lane. The music and dancers were pretty special too.
