Manchester Withington MP Jeff Smith is supporting Male Cancer Awareness Week taking place this week (9-15th April).
One in three men in the UK say that they know nothing about prostate cancer and research from campaign group Orchid shows that more than 60% of men say that they are not confident in identifying the signs of the disease,
The main aim of the campaign is to increase public awareness of prostate cancer and encourage men to know their risk and, if their risk is heightened, go and speak to their GP.
Jeff said: “Research shows that men over the age of 45 are most at risk of prostrate cancer but also the least knowledgeable about the signs and symptoms of the disease.
I’m encouraging people to check out the symptoms online and get checked by your GP if you have any concerns.
