Earlier this week, I responded to Manchester City Council’s consultation to express my support for introducing a Public Space Protection Order (or ‘buffer zone’) outside the Marie Stopes clinic in Fallowfield.
My recent visit to the Fallowfield clinic highlighted the unacceptable abuse that staff, clinic users and local residents are subject to on a regular basis.
While I am pleased that Manchester are moving forward with the PSPO, more needs to be done to tackle this problem at a national level.
If re-elected as your MP, I will continue to urge the Government to introduce national legislation to prevent this unlawful harassment and protect the safety of women and healthcare professionals.
