Manchester Withington MP Jeff Smith has congratulated three local community groups in his constituency who have won the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.
Burnage Library, Love Withington Baths and Reach Out to the Community have all been honoured with the highest award a voluntary group can receive in the UK.
Speaking about the awards, Jeff said:
“I am delighted that three of our fantastic community groups have been recognised for the excellent voluntary work they do in our area..
Friends of Burnage Library, Love Withington Baths and Reach Out to the Community are organisations that work hard to support local people despite years of government cuts impacting their services. FOBL and Love Withington Baths have successfully taken on the operation of two of our much loved community facilities, and Reach Out to the Community do brilliant work in Chorlton supporting homeless people in real need.
It’s hard to think of more deserving groups and I congratulate all the leaders and volunteers for this great achievement.”
