Jeff Smith is encouraging Manchester Withington residents to take part in Independent’s Day 2020 by supporting their local shops over the weekend.

Independents’ Day UK, which this year falls on Saturday 4th July, is a campaign that exists to support and promote independent retail businesses across the UK. Independents account for around 65% of the retail outlets in the UK and are at the heart of local communities throughout the country.

Speaking about the campaign, Jeff said:

“The coronavirus crisis means that now more than ever, local independent shops need our support to ensure that they can keep serving our communities.

Independents offer greater diversity, choice and a more personal shopping experience for customers. I know that many independent shops have also put social distancing measures in place so that people can shop without worry.

It would be a real shame if we lose any of the great independent shops that are available to us locally as a result of the crisis. I would therefore urge everyone in Manchester Withington to show their support and shop locally when possible, both on Independent’s Day and all year round.”
