
The majority of existing Covid restrictions grants for businesses will close for applications on 31st March.
Manchester City Council are encouraging all businesses to check their eligibility for the following grants, and apply by the deadline on Wednesday.
Local Restriction Support Grants (LRSG)
The Government has advised that businesses applying for an LRSG after 31 March will only be eligible for a grant payment covering the period 16 February 31 March 2021.
Businesses who wish to apply for a grant for the period from 5 November – 4 January 2021 and/or the period 5 January – 15 February 2021 will need to apply before the deadline of 31 March 2021.

You can apply for this grant if your business has a business rates account and has been required to close by the Government due to local or national COVID-19 restrictions. Find out more and apply here.
Discretionary grant schemes – Additional Restrictions Grant
This scheme is for Manchester businesses were not eligible for a Local Restrictions Support Grant. The deadline for applications is 31st March.
Eligibility
You can apply for this grant if your business
- is not registered with a business rates account and is therefore not eligible for a Local Restriction Support Grant, but has fixed business property related costs, such as rent, a lease or mortgage and was required to close by the government due to local or national restrictions, or
- was not required to close by Government and therefore is not eligible for a Local Restriction Support Grant, but has been severely impacted as it is in the wholesale supply chain of beauty and therapeutic services, hospitality, accommodation and leisure sectors. This includes businesses with a business rates account, and those without an account but with fixed business property related costs.
Discretionary grant schemes – Expanded Additional Restrictions Grant
This scheme has been designed to support Manchester businesses who have seen a big drop in trade, but who have been ineligible for the above Government grant schemes. The deadline for applications is 31st March.
Eligibility
You can apply for this grant if you are a:
- Business in Manchester with Business Rates liability or fixed property costs who have been significantly impacted by the downturn in: daytime economy trade or in the tourism and cultural sectors and the airport supply chain and have not received support from other support schemes.
- Self-employed company director or sole trader of a small business without fixed business property related costs in hospitality, entertainment, leisure and culture sectors.
