I hope everyone is looking forward to the bank holiday and to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee
Across Withington there are many celebrations to get involved with over the weekend:
- Celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee on Thursday 2 June, 2.30pm-5pm, at the Methodist Church, Wilmslow Road, M20 4AN. Hosted by Withington Civic Society with tea and cakes. All welcome. Tickets in advance: Adults £5, children £2. More details here.
- Platinum Jubilee Event at Withington Baths, Friday 3 June – 1-4pm. For kids and families on the after-school swimming programme.
- Older People’s Jubilee Event on Saturday 4 June, 12noon-3pm, in Ladybarn Park. Food and refreshments will be available, and music from the 1950s. This event is mainly for older people but families are encouraged to come along too. Some may wish to take part in an oral histories project and record their memories of the Queen’s coronation and life in the local area. Free entry
- Family Funday on Saturday 4 June, 2.00-4.30pm, at Ladybarn Community Hub on Royle Street. Face painting, bouncy castle, afternoon tea and cake, penalty shoot-out, crafts and more. Free entry
