Citizens Advice shed new light on cost-of-living crisis in Manchester Withington

Jeff Smith, Labour MP for Manchester Withington, joined Citizens Advice in the Houses of Parliament to explore the charity’s data on how the cost-of-living crisis is affecting people in the constituency.

It shows that Citizens Advice helped 659people with issues related to the cost of living in Manchester Withington since energy prices started to rise in October 2021. This is as the charity’s research says that 10% said they’d be unable to pay their energy bills evCitizens Advice shed new light on cost-of-living crisis in Manchester Withingtonen after cutting back other essentials after prices rose again in April 2022.

Citizens Advice has helped over 110,000 people with crisis support across England and Wales since the start of 2022.

Jeff Smith said:

“Citizens Advice has been on the frontline helping people for many years and I know the difference that their advice can make. Their services have been particularly important when many people in south Manchester are dealing with rising costs, from energy bills to the weekly shop.

“We need a Labour Government in order to meaningfully tackle the cost-of-living crisis and ease the burden that so many are feeling. But I am very grateful to Citizen’s Advice and their dedicated staff and volunteers for doing the best they can to address constituents’ problems under the current circumstances.”
