Make sure you use your pre-payment meter voucher before 30 June

If you use a prepayment meter to pay for your energy, the last day you can use your Energy Bills Support Scheme vouchers is 30 June.

Here’s what you need to know:

What is the Energy Bills Support Scheme?

The Energy Bills Support Scheme is a £400 energy discount which everyone across the country got off their energy bills. Most people got the discount automatically but if you use a prepayment meter that you top up at a shop or Post Office, you probably got the discount in vouchers.

You should have received the vouchers between October 2022 and March 2023.

What do you do with the vouchers?

If you haven’t already, you need to take them to either a PayPoint or Post Office to redeem them and add them to your meter key.

The vouchers will say where you can redeem them and this varies by supplier. You need to redeem them all by 30 June 2023. After this point, you won’t be able to add the money to your meter key. There might be a limit on how much your key or card and prepayment meter can hold, so don’t leave all the vouchers until the last day!

What happens if the voucher has expired?

If any of your vouchers have expired, you need to contact your energy supplier ASAP. You will find your energy suppliers details on any energy bills or statements you’ve been sent. You should contact your energy supplier as soon as possible so they can send you a new voucher.

What happens if you haven’t received the vouchers?

If you haven’t received the vouchers, you need to contact your energy supplier as soon as possible and let them know. They will see why you haven’t received the vouchers and send you them. Do this as soon as possible so you can redeem them before the deadline.

What happens after 30 June?

If you don’t redeem the vouchers by 30 June, you won’t get the money added to your meter. You should redeem your vouchers in plenty of time.
