One month until the Bee Network roll-out in Greater Manchester

In less than a months’ time, locally controlled buses will hit the streets of Greater Manchester for the first time in nearly forty years.

Initially, this will take place in the north-west of Greater Manchester, including Wigan, Bolton and parts of Bury, Salford and Manchester. This will soon roll-out across the remaining council areas and by January 2025, the whole bus network will be under a locally-controlled system and will be fully integrated with Metrolink – including fares, customer information and branding.

Ahead of these changes, a number of changes for customers have just been announced. These include:

– A new Bee Network App and Website will go live on 18th September. These developments will make it easier for customers find the bus or tram ticket for them, check travel alerts and live departure times and report any property lost on a Bee Network bus

– The app and website will include a new Rate Your Journey feature, enabling customers to submit share their experiences of the Bee Network with a simple online survey. Feedback will be used to ensure delivery of the best possible Bee Network.

– New safety measures – including increased staff on the network to support customers and help tackle instances of antisocial behaviour.
