Jeff Smith, Labour MP for Manchester Withington, has been appointed as a Whip in the new Labour administration.

His official title is ‘Junior Lord of the Treasury’.

Before the election, Jeff had most recently been serving as an Opposition Whip.

Jeff said:

“I’m pleased to have been appointed to the Whip’s Office to serve the Labour Government. Our role will be to deliver Labour’s programme of change, and to improve the culture of Parliament and Government.

“It’s an exciting time as we get to work, rebuilding the country and beginning to deliver on our manifesto commitments.”
