Didsbury Post Office

Following recent media reports about potential post office closures, people have contacted me about the future of Didsbury Village Post Office, and I share concerns raised about its future. Post Offices are at the heart of our communities, providing vital services like postal deliveries, access to cash, and banking facilities.

The Post Office has announced a transformation plan aimed at improving its financial position and increasing support for postmasters, who are essential to keeping the network running. This includes reviewing directly managed branches like the one in Didsbury Village to make the network more sustainable.

No decisions have been made about branch closures, and I will do everything I can to ensure Didsbury Village Post Office remains open and continues to serve our community.

I’m raising this issue with ministers and working with local Labour Councillors to press for the Post Office to protect services in our area. I’ll also be keeping a close eye on plans to expand banking hubs, which could offer an opportunity to strengthen the Post Office’s role in providing financial services, especially as we lose more traditional high-street banks.

I’ll keep constituents updated on this important issue as consultation on changes to the Post Office network progresses.
