Take part in the Withington Public Realm project consultation

Manchester City Council is working together with the local community to improve Withington Village.

Following extensive local consultation, the Withington Village Draft Framework was published in summer of 2020. Two of its priorities were:

  • To create a square in front of the library
  • To improve Copson Street by making it more pedestrian friendly

The next step was to successfully secure funding by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund to bring these two projects forward, and this was done through a successful bid.

In August 2023 the council spoke to businesses in the area about their needs in terms of access for both deliveries and customers, and the feedback was used to create the outline designs which are now being shared to get further feedback.

If plans are approved following further consultation, work would be due to start on the ground in autumn 2024.
